Raiders take chance on Washington

On Tuesday the Oakland Raiders signed free agent defensive tackle Donnell Washington, who was released by the Green Bay Packers on June 9.

I'm really not sure why they would want Donnell Washington it's certainly not because of his extensive playing time with the packers. He was drafted in 2004, but never played a single snap in a Green Bay uniform.

Chronic weight problems frustrated the coaching staff in Green Bay until first year coach Mike McCarthy gave him the axe.

Details of the contract weren't available at the time of this post.

Please Play Nice

As this new season is upon us and change is in the air some things continue not to change. Al Harris for example wants a new contract and it looks at this point that if he doesn't get it he is going to hold out. Damn It, accomplish something on the field before asking for a new contract. Your performance last year was less than stellar.

Go out this year have a kick ass season and you will be given a new contract!!

Packers give Washington the Axe

Friday the Green Bay Packers released defensive tackle Donnell Washington, a third-round draft pick in 2004. The 328 pound Washington reported to camp out of shape in early May. Washington suffered a foot injury as a rookie in 2004 and missed all four preseason games and was placed on injured reserve.

Thanks Ryan (you jerk)

Ryan Longwell"Every town in America has an Applebee’s restaurant. In Green Bay, Applebee’s was about as fancy as you got. When my wife, Sarah, and I would get a baby sitter, a nice date night was Applebee’s. In Minnesota, I’m sure there will be plenty of options before Applebee’s comes into the rotation." says former Packer Ryan Longwell.

That's great Ryan, kick dirt on the team that embraced you. It's always nice to see guys thankful for the support of a city.

Thanks Ryan (you jerk)!

Favre MIA

Brett Favre didn't show up at the voluntary workout on Monday, and althought Mike McCarthy earlier said he expected Favre to show up, he didn't seem to be too concerned when his star quarterback didn't make it to practice.

He has said several times that he wants to limit Favre's "pitch count" during workouts so the quarterback doesn't get worn out.
